Polymer Flammability Analysis

A flame retardant polymer should have high resistance to ignition, low rate of combustion and smoke generation, low toxicity of product gases, retention of low flammability during use, acceptability in appearance and properties, no environmental or health safety impact, and little or no economic penalty. To select or design a polymeric material with desirable flammability properties, a familiarity with the principles of combustion, the relationship of flammability to polymer structure, and the modes of flame inhibition is required. This webinar reviews polymer flame retardancy and test methods.
