Solvent Coatings

Solvent-based products typically contain high levels of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) and were traditionally for use on wood and metal surfaces, giving a glossy finishes. Most polymer-based coatings are prepared and applied in liquid form, the solvents or carrier liquids are among the most important raw materials used in the coatings. In coatings classified as solvent-based, organic solvents are employed to dissolve the polymers and oligomers that will form the final cured coating.
