Small Business & Entrepreneurship

Learn how to launch and operate a small business venture. Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, developing, launching and managing a business venture, taking many risks with the goal of earning profit. There are two types of entrepreneurship: entrepreneurship of start-ups and entrepreneurship of small businesses. In this course, you will learn in detail about entrepreneurship of small business.

After completing Becoming an Entrepreneur, students will be equipped with a basic understanding of the following:

• How to craft your passion
• How to define the right business structure
• How to determine your target market
• How to develop a marketing plan
• How to develop a financial plan

No prior experience or coursework required. 

 Students will be assigned 5 homework assignments, and 1 final exam. 

Chapter 1:  Passion

1. Why is your passion important for the business that you choose?
2. Identify hobbies or things that you can do for hours for no money.
3. The Difference between Corporations and LLC
4. What is a SWOT Analysis?
   1. Identify the Strengths for your business.
   2. Identify the Weaknesses in the businesses.

Chapter 2: What is a SWOT Analysis?

• Identify the Opportunities for your business.
• Identify the Threats for your business.

Peer Evaluations:  Spend 5 minutes talking to your peers about your SWOT.

Discuss the type of business that they intend to form.  Corporations or LLC

Chapter 4:  Target market

• Who are the people who will benefit from your business?

• What are the requirements of your website?
• Do you need social media?

Chapter 5: Marketing Plan

• What tools will you use to reach your customers?
• A timeline for marketing.

Sources of Capital

• How will I pay for this?
• Create a money pitch.

Chapter 8: Simulate Personal Financial Management
